How much space debris are there? The answer depends a little on how you count. With all the microscopic grains, flakes of paint and fuel, so it is tens of millions of objects spinning around in orbit. There are more than 600,000 pieces larger than a centimeter which do substantial damage thereabove. All scrap in orbit has become a major problem, not least because thyroid nodules of collisions between objects in space spreads even more space debris.
