These are now available without prescription at the grocery store and contain antihistamines that may reduce your symptoms a great deal. I have allergies to insect stings and react specifically against wasps. Luckily I did not react as strongly as when I was small, next to normal but strong enough that I get a fever and is unwell if I get stung. When it comes to mosquitoes and horseflies so swollen I upload more than averager but is not bad. Knott's annoying but can not say I react appreciably on them. My experience when it comes to wasp stings is that the sooner next to normal you get in you some antihistamines the better it is. Judging from your description where swelling in the throat, i would have a rule to always have some antihistamines / allergy medicine available.
