Those of us with fibromyalgia (FM) experience several types of chronic pain, usually all at once. Only a few of the different fibromyalgia pain has medical name. But just as the Eskimos have more words for snow, I have several ways to define and categorize our pain.
Here are some categories based on my own experiences. Recognise the medical terms will help you communicate better with physicians and other health professionals, while my categories will help you understand your disease and let you know that you are not alone.
The next 4 types are obvious metatarsalgia by name. I would not use these concepts in a doctor's office, they might think you're crazy! Knives in the body. (Voodoo Doll) Random roving pain Burning pain Uneasy nerves
Paresthesia is weird nerve sensations that can feel like crawling, tingling, burning, itching or numbness. Sometimes metatarsalgia these emotions can be painful. Paresthesia is also associated with peripheral neuropathy, chemotherapy drugs, multiple sclerosis and migraine. Many ordinary FM treatments can help alleviate paresthesia-related metatarsalgia pain, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). Some people also benefit from vitamin B12, capsaicin cream, massage and acupuncture.
"Hyper" means superfluous and "algesia" means pain. Hyperalgesia is the medical term for pain amplification in FM. Our brains seem to take regular pain signals and "turn up the volume," making them more seriously than they normally would be. Most drugs used to handle FM pain is directed, at least in part, to reduce hyperalgesia. metatarsalgia
A symptom that confuses many of us, especially when it is new, allodynia. That is what describes when the skin is painful to the touch, and as little as mild pressure from clothes or gentle massage causing metatarsalgia pain. Many people describe allodynia as being sunburned.
Allodynia is a fairly rare type of pain - other than FM, it is only associated with a handful diagnoses, including neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia (shingles) metatarsalgia and migraine. Allodynia believed to be an allergic reaction that can occur from central sensitivity, associated with FM. The pain signals come with specialized nerves, called nociceptors, which shares sensible information on things like temperature and painful stimuli directly from the skin.
Allodynia comes in three forms: metatarsalgia tactile, which is pain from touch or light pressure Mechanical, who motion over your skin Thermal, is that pain from heat or cold that is not severe enough to damage tissue
If you have allodynia, metatarsalgia can massage therapy make it worse. If you feel the other aspects of your health will benefit from massage, be sure to discuss with your doctor allodynia and massage therapist and keep track of how treatments affect metatarsalgia this symptom.
Again, the following categories are not medically recognized - they are things I came up with to fill a gap in how we classify various metatarsalgia types of pain. They are intended to help you track symptoms, gauge, the effectiveness of treatments, and to tell you you're not alone. Knife in the body (Voodoo Doll): Sometimes, out of nowhere, I get an intense stabbing pain that seems to cut through my body. I generally get this pain in the chest or abdomen, but some people say that they get it in other parts of the body. It can be so intense that it makes it hurt to breathe. It usually goes away as fast as it comes. I have no idea how to prevent this kind of pain, other than aktivitetsavpassning. Random roving pain: This is one of those things that reminds you that FM is not logical. Many of us have pain that migrates around the body, sometimes moving between certain places, sometimes they occur in new areas. If you also have muscle pain syndrome, it can be especially difficult to say random metatarsalgia roving pain from referred pain caused by trigger points. For me, this pain responds to treatment about which hyperalgesia. Burning pain: Remember when you were a kid and you were one sparklers too long? The sparks hit your hand and caused small twinge of pain? I have almost the same feelings today. They get me to jump, and scratch on them triggers tactile allodynia. These feelings usually last only a few seconds. I have no idea what triggers them or how to prevent them. Uneasy nerves: Most people will not understand why I call this a type of pain, but I'm metatarsalgia sure most people with FM will get it. Certain things tend to get my body on the edge, nervous, and I feel rattles. It hurts everywhere, and sometimes I nauseous, dizzy and anxious. Things like restless nerves generally involve sensory or emotional overload, for example: Certain metatarsalgia sounds (repetitive, metatarsalgia loud, shrill, screaming kids) Visualt chaos (crowds, flashing lights,
